The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) Advanced Test. Also based on the Police "Roadcraft" method of driving, and examined by ex-police class-one drivers.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents ( RoSPA) Advanced Test at Gold grade (twice). Based on the Police "Roadcraft" method of driving, and examined by ex-police class-one drivers. Alan was trained by a retired ex-police class-one traffic officer.
The Cardington (A) Special Driving Test for Approved Driving Instructors. A very strict DSA driving test at the driving examiner's training centre at Cardington in Bedfordshire. Similar to the driving test that the examiners take themselves. DSA website
Completed and passed a Fleet driver instructor training course with Pro-Drive Occupational Road Risk Consultancy and Defensive Driver Training in Stafford, and received a Fleet Trainer Diploma (The company was sold in 2005 to the Institute of Advanced Motorists).
Attended further fleet driver instructor training, and Skid-car training, with ATC Advanced Driver Training at North Weald. ATC Driver Training website
Introduction to off-road, rally, and race driving at Brands Hatch
Alan was also on the DSA Fleet Driver Trainer Register, for which he qualified in 2002. This is the highest DSA training qualification, and enables holders to train company car drivers in accordance with Health and Safety at Work legislation.
He is currently DSA Pass Plus registered, and is able to issue Pass Plus certificates upon completion of the 6 hour course. Pass Plus Scheme
